piano man
for my father

old piano in the garage
upright, carved

jazz floated through the neighborhood

late afternoon, night
who knew when

jazz floated

neighbors knew who it was
over there on Cascade Drive

jazz floating through the neighborhood

hot summers, cold winters
against a garage wall

into the breezeway
across the grass
out Cascade, up and down Overhill Drive

jazz jazz jazz

progressions to die for
heart to hands
heart on the keys

passion for the garage
passion for the dog
passion for the trees

passion for the birds
passion for the street
passion for jazz

jazz jazz jazz
